Self confidence

INNER CRITIC

We invite you to watch this 15-min video before the next workshop.
It will help you understand the concept of self-limiting beliefs, identify them and ultimately reduce your inner critic.

Becoming aware of our self-limiting beliefs is a helpful way to understand what's coming in the way of our development.

What have you learned about self-limiting beliefs?

Please share below your own definition of self-limiting belief and some examples you see.
Before the next workshop, we invite you to make a list of areas where you feel stuck. We suggest you pay attention to your recurring inner chatter: can you notice any thought that is coming again and again? You may have "co-arranged your life" around them. The meditation about thoughts is a good way to see what emerges. It takes some time and doesn't happen overnight. Take your time and trust your gut feeling. Don't judge yourself, just observe and note.
If you feel this is challenging, try to identify the self-limiting beliefs of people around you.  It's often simpler to see beliefs in others.

We like to think of our champions and idols as superheroes who were born different from us. We don't like to think of them as relatively ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary."

GROWTH MINDSET

Carol Dweck is an American psychologist. She is Professor of Psychology at Stanford University. She is known for her work on the mindset psychological trait. According to her, individuals can be placed on a continuum according to their implicit views of where ability comes from.
  • Some believe their success is based on innate ability; these are said to have a fixed mindset.
  • Others, who believe their success is based on hard work, learning, training and doggedness are said to have a growth mindset.
She argues that the growth mindset will allow a person to live a less stressful and more successful life.
Watch her definition of fixed and growth mindsets from her Ted talk.
